This Risk Manager role works directly with the Head of Risk Management in the overall delivery of the risk management strategy and implementation of the risk management framework across all business entities including the wider international business and fully embed an appropriate risk culture. 
 
Responsibilities

  • Executing the implementation and integration of the risk management framework for specified areas, aligned with the risk management strategy. This involves diverse activities such as risk register assessments, control evaluations, managing operational loss events, analysing emerging risks, generating risk reports, and contributing to project initiatives.
  • Furnishing effective and timely risk management reviews, challenges, and advice to the business's first line of defence, offering a risk management perspective for identifying, measuring, mitigating, and reporting risks.
  • Collaborating with the Head of Risk Management to achieve the annual risk activity and deliverable plan, while promptly communicating deviations from the plan.
  • Addressing and responding to emerging risk issues, escalating significant matters to the Head of Risk Management, relevant stakeholders (business partners, risk owners, ExCo members), and appropriate governance bodies.
  • Supporting ongoing monitoring and assessment of risks within the risk register's scope, facilitating regular risk and control assessments, designing and maintaining key risk indicators (KRIs) and monitoring limits, collaborating with business stakeholders to optimise key controls, and suggesting actionable measures to reduce risk exposures that exceed tolerance levels.

 
Skills Required

  • Possess a minimum of 7 years' experience in risk management or internal/external audit, along with relevant qualifications.
  • Exhibit a profound comprehension of the general insurance industry, preferably including knowledge of the Lloyd's or general insurance market.
  • Demonstrate exceptional skills in crafting reports and presentations, aimed at senior management, committees, or boards.
  • Display the ability to skilfully and appropriately challenge and question stakeholders across all levels, including senior management and directors. Capable of delivering well-considered and balanced risk opinions, findings, and recommendations.
  • Possess comprehensive familiarity with Solvency II and the Lloyd's market, providing an advantage in critically evaluating and questioning Syndicate or IDC risk management, internal controls, business processes, and procedures.
  • Show dedication to meeting internal/external reporting deadlines, offering practical and solution-oriented approaches. Cultivate constructive relationships with business stakeholders.
  • Maintain a wide-ranging understanding of the present risk management landscape and stay updated on significant developments in risk management best practices. Be prepared to contribute Thought Leadership on specific topics or areas, as requested by the Head of Risk Management or Director of Risk and Compliance.
