INTRODUCTION
 
Reporting to the CRO, this role has full responsibility for the regulatory and Compliance agenda. The role is responsible for developing and delivering a compliance strategy, framework and oversight activity to ensure regulatory requirements are met across the UK & International business, including regulatory affairs, compliance advisory and monitoring.
 
My client is looking for this role to be key part of the Risk and Compliance leadership team, a No.2 to
himself. With a strong leadership background, this individual will be able to influence at Executive / Board and Intact group level while driving the compliance agenda.
 
This role will be the approved person for Compliance.
 
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
 

  • Develop, agree and drive delivery of a strategic plan for UK & International Compliance and ensure that oversight activity is performed that will provide the Board Risk Committee and Executive team with relevant information and assurance of the effectiveness of compliance risk management, governance and relevant controls.
  • Develop and implement a Compliance Risk Framework that is ‘fit for purpose’ for the UK & International business to meet legislative and regulatory expectations and protect the firms’ reputation, leveraging and prioritising elements of the wider risk and control framework as appropriate.
  • Provide expert advice to the Group Board (Intact), Committees and Executives. Where possible, anticipate emerging regulatory expectations and priorities, including through external networking.
  • Lead and develop the overall relationship between UK regulators (PRA, FCA) and businesses to ensure consistent and appropriate representation at all levels.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the compliance team in the to ensure delivery of required standards of excellence in service and performance.
  • Ensuring that the board, senior management and business are equipped for PRA and FCA meetings and deliverables, including deep-dive reviews, meetings and information requests.

 
 
GROUP STRATEGY/ COMPLIANCE VISION
 
Given the enormous change agenda including business transformation (re-platforming) and given the wide range of products, distribution and partners the business has (there are over 100 routes to market and hundreds of products), it is vital that Compliance is influential, challenging and making sure the best business decisions are made. The Group CRO is keen that Compliance is 'at the table' at all stages with a critical friend, business partner mindset."
 
Your role as CCO would be to come in, review the current function and develop ‘what good looks like’, build a DE&I team and structure and execute the responsibilities through setting the agenda and strategy.
 

  • You will have the opportunity to be part of the leadership team and influence the ‘new chapter’ of the firm.
  • Take over the existing compliance function and develop and build a “best in class” compliance function.
  • Broad remit across UK and International including Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Specialty Lines and International oversight of Ireland and Europe.

 
 
PERSON PROFILE
 

  • This individual will need to have an exceptional relationship with the executives and be able to influence them, the board and the parent company.
  • This person will have extensive senior level compliance and leadership experience ideally within the Personal Lines General Insurance space.
  • You must be authentic, able to challenge and be confident and flexible in judgement. You will be measured and decisive acting as a trusted advisor to the Group CRO.
  • You will be the key interface with regulators (PRA/FCA) but may also be called upon with the CBI (Ireland), CAA (Lux) and OFSI (Canada).
  • You will be able to maintain their current tone with a focus on the long term regulatory agenda, being proactive not reactive.
  • You will understand how FCA Conduct Rules apply to you as an employee of the firm and specifically, how they apply to the behaviours and actions you need to demonstrate in consistently influencing good customer outcomes through the definition of the Conduct Framework and governance of the framework.
  • You will have a proven track record of leading and building / developing teams whilst being able to set the compliance agenda and strategy.
  • You will have a track record of successfully leading transformation, developing and driving the implementation of changes required to achieve ‘best in class’ capabilities for the future.
