Group Compliance Officer - Motor Insurance

This is a high profile role with a growing international insurance group. This role would suit someone who is looking to build a compliance function within an insurance start up. You will have a desire to work in a scale-up environment with high growth ambitions.
 
In this role, you will be an Approved Person in the FCA register, a member of the firms Executive Committee and play a key role in sustainably scaling the UK business. In addition to having responsibility for regulatory compliance and reducing legal risk, you will lead the project to obtain full FCA authorisation as an insurance intermediary in the UK (the company will initially operate as an Appointed Representative of a third party, but is
subsequently looking to transition to full authorisation status).
 
Responsibilities will include:
 

  • Reviewing the effectiveness of policies and procedures, suggesting improvements to encourage good practices, reduce risk and promote a strong commitment to TCF principles
  • Providing guidance and training to the Board of Directors and collaborating with them to define the company’s risk appetite and risk and controls frameworks
  • Managing regulatory and compliance reporting for regulators, key partners (including insurance providers) and the Board of Directors
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts with third parties and employees
  • Managing regulator relationships
  • Addressing risk incidents and other non-compliance events
  • Designing and implementing training regimes

 
Requirements for the role are:
 

  • You will have good experience of providing guidance and training to the Board of Directors and collaborating with them to define the company’s risk appetite and risk and controls frameworks.
  • You will also be able to manage key regulator relationships.
  • Previously or currently hold a senior Legal / Compliance role in a company operating in the P&C insurance sector or in a law firm
  • Multiple years’ experience in retail motor insurance in the UK
  • Extensive knowledge of the Insurance Distribution Direction and other relevant regulation and legislation
  • Have previously been on the FCA’s Senior Management and Certification Regime
  • A desire to work in a scale-up environment with high growth ambitions and an agile mentality
