Arthur is excited to be working in partnership with one of the markets leading companies in the legacy market as they search for a Head of Complex Claims.
In this role, the successful individual would ideally possess experience in as many lines of business as possible, particularly US Casualty. The individual would be required to assist in managing the claims teams’ legal risk, provide legal advice to the claims team on contentious or potentially contentious matters, review and comment on legal advice received from external advisers on claims and underwriting issues and report directly to the Head of Claims and liaise with Compliance on claims in litigation.
Your Role:
You will be responsible for negotiation/settlement of legal disputes involving the Group and provide clear guidance on strategy for resolving legal disputes
Monito all legal developments likely to have an impact on the Group, suggest possible strategies and solutions to minimise legal risks
Provide general legal advice to the Group with particular focus on Claims
Make effective decisions when dealing with complex technical claims scenarios
Appoint appropriate approved experts and the ability to analyse specialist external reports
Determine claims handling processes in line with company strategy
Effectively manage several simultaneous tasks and higher level prospects whilst being responsible for the delivery of strategic projects
Your Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales or extensive experience in the insurance market
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) law degree, Master of Laws (LLM) law degree would be of beneficial to demonstrate ability to carry out complex research and analysis
Litigation experience including settlement conferences, mediations, arbitrations, drafting pleadings, discovery and trial experience
In-depth insurance industry knowledge and experience, focusing on claims and underwriting
Able to find practical solutions to US legal issues
In depth knowledge of regulation requirements and legal issues
Knowledge of the basic principles of risk management
Identify financial trends and manage claims in line with expected loss rations and management criteria
