Data Engineer - £70,000 - 90,000 - London (Hybrid)
A specialist Insurer is searching for an established Data Engineer for their growing team. The applicant will use their skills set to gather, cleanse, and build usable data sets from varying sources of unstructured and structured data. The role holder will develop and use advanced techniques to provide valuable insight and analytical services over diverse large scale datasets.
Responsibilities:
• Development of tools to automate exposure management processes that are currently manual.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of state-of-the art exposure management infrastructure in the cloud.
• Process and extract key exposure management data via pipelines that enable the business to function effectively.
• API-based integration of external tools and systems into a central exposure management analytics environment.
• Contribute to analytical projects developing new data-driven insights into how risk selection is done now, and how it could be done in the future.
Essential skills and experience:
• Strong academic background, ideally a high-level degree in computer science, engineering, physics, actuarial science, statistics or maths based equivalent
• Advanced programming experience in Python, working with and building packages.
• Strong understanding and experience with devops tools such as git, virtualenv, containerisation.
• Advanced experience administering and working with relational database systems, e.g.,.SQL.
• Experience with linux command line and basic linux server admin (e.g. adding/removing a user, installation of basic packages).
• Experience in building and working with AWS or Azure infrastructures.
• Advanced experience in tools for data manipulation of large-scale datasets (pandas, Spark).
