This is a high-impact leadership role where you will be responsible for the strategy, growth, and profitability of the A&H portfolio. Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and execution of the Accident & Health underwriting strategy, ensuring alignment with the MGA's overall business objectives.
Oversee the underwriting process, ensuring risk appetite, pricing guidelines, and quality standards are adhered to.
Manage and develop a high-performing A&H underwriting team, providing leadership, training, and mentorship to drive performance and career growth.
Foster strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders, identifying opportunities for growth and new business development.
Ensure that the A&H portfolio remains profitable, with a focus on maintaining an appropriate balance between risk exposure and profitability.
Conduct regular analysis of the A&H market to identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities to enhance the underwriting strategy.
Collaborate closely with claims, actuarial, risk, and compliance teams to ensure the effective management and governance of the portfolio.
Deliver regular performance reports to senior management, highlighting key insights and making recommendations for action where required.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and best practices within the A&H sector to ensure compliance and innovation in product offerings.
Key Requirements:
Extensive experience in Accident & Health underwriting, preferably within an MGA or insurance carrier.
Proven track record in managing and leading an underwriting team, with strong coaching and mentoring abilities.
In-depth knowledge of A&H products, risks, and market dynamics, with the ability to adapt strategies based on market conditions.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate risk exposure and make informed underwriting decisions.
Excellent relationship-building and business development skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively with brokers and clients.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
A strategic mindset, with the ability to balance short-term objectives and long-term business goals.
Professional qualifications in underwriting or insurance (CII or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
