We are excited to partner with a leading Managing General Agent (MGA) in their search for a Head of Professional Indemnity Underwriting. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced underwriting professional to lead and shape the professional indemnity portfolio within a growing and dynamic environment. You will be responsible for driving the underwriting strategy, managing a team, and ensuring the continued growth and profitability of the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and execution of the professional indemnity underwriting strategy for the MGA.
Oversee the underwriting process, ensuring adherence to risk appetites, pricing guidelines, and quality standards.
Develop and maintain relationships with key brokers and clients, enhancing business development opportunities.
Manage and mentor a team of underwriters, providing leadership and guidance to ensure high-performance standards.
Monitor the market landscape, identifying emerging risks and opportunities to inform underwriting strategies.
Ensure that the professional indemnity portfolio is profitable and sustainable, with a focus on maintaining a strong balance between risk and reward.
Provide technical expertise and support to the wider underwriting team, ensuring they stay up to date with regulatory changes and best practices.
Report regularly on underwriting performance, highlighting key issues and recommending corrective actions where necessary.
Collaborate with other departments, including claims, risk, and actuarial teams, to ensure effective management of the portfolio.
Key Requirements:
Extensive experience in professional indemnity underwriting, preferably within an MGA or Lloyd's market environment.
Proven track record in leading and managing a team of underwriters.
Strong understanding of professional indemnity risks, products, and market trends.
Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to work with key stakeholders, including brokers and clients.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
A proactive and strategic mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
Professional qualifications in underwriting or insurance (CII or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
