Arthur is delighted to be partnering with this well known and highly respected insurance business to secure a Programs Underwriter.

A key growth area for this organization, this role will underwrite a portfolio of casualty insurance business which will be actively growing.  You will manage current MGA partner relationships whilst monitoring their performance to maximise profitability. 
This role will also be active in marketing this company’s offering in the casualty insurance programs space which currently spans lines including general liability, D&O, Medmal, professional liability and transactional liability.  This includes being an active member of the function at conferences, events, client meetings and other business development forums.
 
Operating closely with MGAs on programs, you will underwrite individual submissions and conduct due diligence on products, business plans, historical performance, operations, deal structure, and management teams. This will be integral to the acceptance of programs business, matching the organization’s risk appetite and strategy.
 
There are exciting growth plans for this unit and an important task will include collaborating with other functions internally both in the US but also internationally.  Other locations include the UK, Bermuda and mainland European locations with some travel likely.
 
Ideally the role is seeking:
 

  • Prior insurance underwriting experience. Casualty lines exposure is advantageous particularly across GL, PI, D&O, Medmal and M&A.
  • An understanding of portfolio management related to program underwriting
  • Knowledge of global insurance and/or reinsurance markets, including products, distribution, competitors, contract or treaty structures, regulatory trends, external events, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively with actuarial peers, understand actuarial concepts, and interpret model results
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships internally with team members and externally with clients and brokers
  • Adaptability to changing market conditions and lines of business.
