Arthur is delighted to be working with a global specialty insurer and reinsurer, who are seeking a Reserving Actuary to join their London team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a well-established reserving function and gain exposure to international actuarial operations.
This is a specialist commercial insurance and reinsurance provider with a strong international presence, writing a diversified portfolio including Energy, Marine, Property, Financial Lines and Casualty risks. With operations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America, the business is known for its disciplined underwriting and solid financial position, holding strong ratings from leading agencies. The role is based in London, with occasional travel to other office locations as required

Key Features of the Role:
• Contribute to quarterly reserving across multiple business segments, collaborating with underwriters and claims teams to ensure accurate reserve setting.
• Support the preparation of regulatory returns for various international bodies and rating agencies.
• Assist with business planning through profitability analysis and insights on loss development trends.
• Opportunity to travel to overseas offices, including Amman, to collaborate with wider actuarial colleagues.
• Involved in evolving internal reserving processes, data management and reporting tools – with a strong focus on automation and efficiency.
• The role is positioned to offer increasing responsibility over time, with future opportunities for leadership involvement.

Skills and Experience Required:
• Part-qualified or newly qualified actuary (FIA, FCAS, FAIA or equivalent), with around 3–5 years’ experience in non-life reserving.
• Strong background within the London Market, Lloyd’s or commercial lines environment.
• Comfortable handling reserving analyses and regulatory reporting across a wide range of classes.
• Technical proficiency in at least two of the following: Excel, VBA, SQL, R, Python or Power BI.
• High attention to detail, with the ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
• Strong communication skills, capable of building relationships across actuarial, underwriting and finance functions.
