Brand new exclusive Risk Manager role in a world leading specialty insurance business. This role within the Enterprise Risk team is pivotal as they adapt frameworks to match business growth and foster a culture attentive to risks.
Its primary focus is jointly maintaining the day-to-day aspects of the risk management framework, emphasising qualitative aspects while recognising the rising significance of quantitative elements.
Key responsibilities entail managing operational risk and governance, especially in IT and Technology Risks, with an added emphasis on the Operational Resilience framework. Reporting to the Head of Risk, this role involves overseeing a Risk Analyst and includes:
Handling day-to-day operational and governance aspects of Operational Risk, specifically in IT and Technology.
Assisting in overseeing the separate Operational Resilience project, involving scenario testing and annual self-assessment within regular operations.
Conducting diverse scenario tests including operational risk and resilience scenarios, and supporting broader business scenarios.
Building relationships with underwriting teams to understand and document their risk profiles and control frameworks.
Evolving the risk framework to align with industry best practices and business needs.
Leading quarterly risk register reviews for Operational risks and controls, contributing to managing Insurance/Strategic risks.
Supporting the maintenance of the Emerging Risks register and framework, including in-depth reviews of current important topics.
Assisting in producing ORSA reports and generating risk reports for various committees, including the Risk Committee.
Updating qualitative risk documentation as needed and undertaking additional business duties.
Performance objectives include precise reporting, developing internal relationships, becoming a specialist in assigned risks, and obtaining positive feedback from stakeholders.
Required skills and experience:
Minimum five years' experience in the insurance industry, predominantly in a Risk/second line function with a focus on qualitative aspects.
Strong communication skills are essential due to substantial engagement with the business.
Degree or relevant professional qualification (e.g., Institute of Risk Management, CII).
Self-driven and proactive.
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Desirable qualifications encompass experience in Operational Resilience projects, IT SOX/Compliance/Risk, and familiarity with risk software.
