We are working with a reputable Insurance Broker as they look to add a Sanctions Officer to their team. 

The primary goal for the ideal candidate is to assist the compliance function in providing an effective compliance service for the company and its subsidiary undertakings, and to promote and develop the compliance culture across the group

In addition to this, you will be expected to provide support to the Financial Crime team with a particular focus on ensuring that the company maintains effective sanction screening systems and controls, provides accurate and timely delivery of sanctions advisory services to the business and monitors adherence to financial crime related policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Keeping abreast of regulatory and legislative changes and assist in advising on the impact of any applicable FCA Consultative Papers, Policy Statements, Rule changes, EU and other directives and any other guidance/ requirements relating to financial crime and sanctions.
  • Regularly review and ensure that the company's sanctions related policies, procedures, systems and controls remain appropriate, given changes to legislative requirements or the risk profile of the business.
  • Undertaking enhanced due diligence and screening checks as part of the take-on of new business entities, researching various sources of publicly available data via the Internet and purchased software in order to be satisfied the entity can be traded with.
  • Reviewing, investigating, authorising or escalating alerts raised as a result of sanction screening.
  • Monitor the on-going suitability and performance of the company's sanctions screening software, together with undertaking administrative duties on behalf of all screening software users.
  • Proactively communicating changes which may impact policies; business processes; management and compliance risk management controls.
  • Contribute and provide financial crime support in strategic or operational projects.
  • Assisting with the preparation of timely and accurate meeting packs, registers, reports and notifications for the Company relating to sanctions and high risk screening.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of financial crime related processes, in particular escalation processes between the business and the Compliance Team.
  • Proactively providing sanctions advice and guidance to the business.
  • Assist in the development of financial crime related training modules and guides.
  • Assisting in ensuring that the requirements of external legislation and regulations (e.g. FCA, Lloyd’s legislation, Money Laundering/Proceeds of Crime, Data Protection) are embodied in corporate procedures and reflected in company best practice and other general business compliance procedures.
  • Monitoring business activity against the company's financial crime policies and procedures to identify incidents of non-compliance, investigating and responding as appropriate and assisting in the provision of management information to the Compliance Committees.
  • Provide and support and development opportunities in respect of sanctions to the Compliance Analysts and/or Assistants within the team.Adhere to and meet fully the company expectations as set out in its policies and procedures, training material, and embedded in its systems and controls. Our policies and procedures are written to encapsulate the compliance, legal and financial crime related legislation and regulations which apply to the company.
