The Role Reporting to the Senior Compliance Manager – Europe, the Senior Compliance Officer will help ensure that the company’s European offices maintain robust regulatory systems and controls in accordance with applicable laws and industry regulations. The role involves oversight of compliance frameworks, contributing to risk-based strategies, and ensuring consistency across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the European Compliance Plan.
  • Interpret and apply regulatory requirements across various EU jurisdictions.
  • Draft, review, and update compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide regulatory reports for the business and relevant governance committees.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess regulatory impact and implement appropriate compliance controls.
  • Advise on regulatory requirements and respond to compliance-related queries.
  • Support responses to regulatory inspections, audits, and investigations.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of compliance training and awareness initiatives.
  • Maintain and oversee Fit & Proper assessments and regulatory training records.
  • Assist in drafting and standardizing compliance policies for application across European operations.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation of new requirements.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in interpreting and applying European insurance regulatory requirements.
  • Deep understanding of the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) and other relevant EU directives.
  • Experience working within insurance or broader financial services, particularly in compliance or risk functions.
  • Familiarity with internal control systems, auditing concepts, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across international teams.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages such as French, German, or Italian are a plus.
  • University degree in Law, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in compliance, risk, or insurance preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a compliance or regulatory environment
