Arthur are partnered with a General Insurer in the London Market going through an exciting period of transformation & growth. The successful person will be the deputy to the CFO, establishing processes, procedure & policies for a Commercial Finance department build.

JOB SUMMARY:

The FP&A Business Partner will be responsible for improving and/or implementing forecasting, budgeting, business partnering and other commercial finance processes. Your work will help drive data-led decision making throughout the organisation and particularly will focus on strategic partnership with the Chief Underwriting Officer and the wider underwriting team as they develop and grow the business into the UK Company market. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a credible and trusted business partner for the underwriting function providing financial insights and challenge into underwriting performance and proposed business actions.
  • Ownership of the company’s forecasting process, making sure it reflects business strategy and responds quickly to forthcoming business actions.
  • Assess and report on monthly performance, providing succinct and meaningful reports for underwriting teams, senior management, and the leadership team.
  • Play a leading role in developing the budget and business plans working closely with the CFO, other Executives and other members of the leadership team.
  • Contribute to papers for Board and senior Committees, in particular (but not exclusively) to performance assessment, budget and planning papers.
  • Work with Underwriting Operations team, other members of the Finance team, and IT specialists to develop, improve and automate FP&A and KPI reporting to enhance speed and accuracy.
  • Take responsibility for input data accuracy and completeness, understanding how the data originates and the controls in place to ensure it can be relied upon.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
  • Commercial general insurance business experience
  • Experience of producing meaningful and actionable financial planning and analysis
  • Experience of presenting reports and analysis to senior management
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across departments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate business plans into financial models
  • Advanced Excel
  • Coding skills to enable the manipulation and preparation of data (beneficial)
