The Role This position will support the effective management of risk and control within the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team. The role involves working closely with the business to foster a robust and efficient internal control environment, in alignment with relevant regulatory and governance requirements. Additionally, this role will assist in the company’s sustainability initiatives, aiming to integrate sustainability practices into the business operations.
Key Responsibilities The main focus of the role is to contribute to the development and strengthening of the risk management function through the following:
Build strong relationships with business units, becoming the ERM partner for various departments (e.g., underwriting, claims, operations, and finance), providing support to the first line in managing key risks.
Implement processes to identify, evaluate, analyze, steer, monitor, and report on risks. This includes assisting the first line in maintaining the Risk Register and tracking risks, controls, and risk events.
Support workshops related to risk and control assessments.
Foster relationships with the Head Office and key stakeholders across the business, ensuring reporting and notifications are provided as needed.
Assist with the deployment of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives, ensuring ESG considerations are recorded and monitored in the risk register.
Support the identification, reporting, and management of Emerging Risks.
Collaborate with the Compliance team to ensure adherence to both local and Group regulations.
Assist the Chief Risk Officer with tasks including:
Preparing ERM presentations and reports for committees and key stakeholders.
Embedding the Risk Management Framework and associated policies and procedures.
Offering risk oversight for new projects, initiatives, products, and business plans (including stress testing).
Assist in integrating the Ireland business into the existing risk framework, ensuring proper inclusion in reporting and proportionate management.
Promote a strong risk culture within the organization, advocating for transparency and leading by example.
Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in the insurance industry (preferably general insurance) and a strong understanding of key functions and processes within an insurance company.
Relevant risk management experience, including assessing risks, evaluating control effectiveness, and reporting, with experience using risk management software.
Candidates with experience in Internal Audit, Advisory, or similar roles will also be considered.
A degree or professional certification in a relevant field is preferred.
Proven experience working with and building relationships with colleagues at various levels within the business and across different functions.
A proactive, self-starter approach with the ability to simplify complex concepts and challenges through analytical thinking.
