SQL DBA / SQL Database Administrator – London - £60,000 – SQL, Snowflake, MS SQL Databases, Web technologies, Idera, Foglight, AppDynamics, Powershell
 The Database Administrator is responsible for providing operational database services to the business.

 
Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking, and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs, reviewing service-related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with developers to come up with solutions to recurring problems.
 
 
KEY Responsibilities:
 
 

  • Troubleshooting and resolving database performance issues, blocking, and deadlocking issues, replication issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc
  • Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
  • Knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication
  • Implementing operational automation where the need or opportunity arises
  • Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
  • Install and configure new SQL Servers and apply security and stability patches across all environments.
  • Control access permissions and privileges
  • Support and administration of Snowflake databases in the Cloud (SaaS)

 
 
Technical Skills and Experience:
 
 

  • 5 years’ experience of managing MS SQL Databases
  • Microsoft Database Qualification
  • Experience of supporting and administering Snowflake in the Cloud
  • Web-specific technology expertise. For e-businesses, DBAs are required to have knowledge of Internet and Web technologies to enable databases to participate in Web-based applications. Examples of this type of technology include XML, .NET, Java Script, C#, TCP/IP, Web servers, and SSL.
  • Experience with Monitoring products such as Idera, Foglight, AppDynamics.
  • 5+ years minimum working and writing in T-SQL
  • Related application and software/OS experience including the following: Microsoft Server technologies, SQL Databases, SSIS, SSRS, Analysis Server, failover Clustering, AlwaysOn Availability groups, Log Shipping and Replication, Powershell & IIS.
