Arthur is delighted to be partnering with a global property and casualty insurer, who are seeking a Reserving Technical Actuary to join their London office. This role sits within the Reserving Technical team and offers a strong mix of technical delivery and system development within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

The Reserving Function plays a key role in ensuring actuarial best practice and robust regulatory compliance across its global operations.
Key Features of the Role:
• Play a key role in executing the quarterly reserving process, from data input through to the production of core and regulatory outputs.
• Support the maintenance and enhancement of the in-house reserving platform, including ResQ integration and related control processes.
• Collaborate with actuaries to implement sound reserving methodologies and support improvements in data segmentation and parameter setting.
• Produce and reconcile technical and regulatory reports using SQL, Excel, and Power BI.
• Take ownership of specific reserving tasks and workstreams, providing clear communication on progress and resolving technical issues in coordination with IT and other business teams.
• Contribute to ongoing systems development projects aimed at improving the quality, automation, and control of reserving processes.
• Engage with a range of internal stakeholders, from finance to data teams, to resolve data challenges and improve the quality of inputs and outputs.
Skills and Experience Required:
• Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Prior experience in general insurance reserving, ideally with exposure to reserving systems and technical process development.
• Proficiency in SQL is essential, with familiarity or willingness to develop skills in VBA, ResQ, and Power BI.
• Experience with data controls, versioning, and reconciliation processes in an actuarial or analytical environment.
• Ability to interpret complex data and debug SQL procedures independently.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities around quarter-end deadlines.
• Effective communication skills, able to explain technical matters to a variety of stakeholders.
• A proactive and adaptable approach, with an interest in system innovation and process improvement.
