We have partnered with a growing International insurer and reinsurer on a new opportunity to play a vital role in managing catastrophe risk across a large variety of business classes. As a Catastrophe Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our catastrophe modeling processes, liaising with third-party modeling teams, and working closely with Underwriting teams to increase transparency and analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain relationships with third-party modeling teams, providing guidance and answering queries as needed.
• Ensure the accurate and timely completion of BAU tasks such as prebind modeling and postbind portfolio roll-up for a range of insurance classes.
• Communicate regularly with Underwriting teams on modeling queries and requests, ensuring a high level of confidence.
• Maintain the Catastrophe Risk team's workflow.
• Peer review outsourcer output on a regular basis, providing feedback and improvement strategies as needed.
• Complete BAU tasks when required to ensure the timely turnaround of regular reporting.
• Complete ad-hoc exposure analytics requests from other business areas, including regulatory reporting.
• Assist the Catastrophe Risk team with ongoing projects, including collaboration projects with other teams.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Required:
• 2-3 years of experience working in a catastrophe modeling role.
• Strong knowledge and experience using third-party catastrophe models and exposure management tools.
• Highly analytical and a graduate in a scientific or numerate subject.
• Demonstrated ability to explain complex data and ideas.
• Strong communication skills.
• Team player
• Efficient and organized worker with a mindset for continuous improvement.
• Keen interest in using coding languages, with some experience in SQL/R/ Python or other.
