Our client are a European Carrier setting up operations in Belgium, looking for a Strong Operational Finance Manager to support in setting up the operations, reporting processes & infrastructure for the Belgium entity, reporting up in to the European Financial Control team.
Responsibilities include:
Working on Belgium statutory and regulatory reporting and tax risk issues as part of the Finance Control team. The team is made up of 13 FTE and is responsible for Revenue recognition and assurance, Claims, Expenses, Cash and Investment, Balance Sheet substantiation, the preparation of statutory and management accounts and supporting business transformation.
Lead the preparation of all Belgium statutory and regulatory returns including reviewing and aligning the accounting policies and managing the relationship with external auditors.
Assist with the setup of a new European insurance entity, supporting all aspects of regulatory reporting and tax.
Help to coordinate the Solvency II process with external actuaries.
Implement a new tax framework to manage our tax risk and review all our existing VAT arrangements across the UK and Europe.
Manage our fiscal representation partner and regular IPT and VAT submissions.
Work on transformation initiatives in a context of high growth, where the finance processes need to keep up with the rapid expansion of the business.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Fluent in English and French.
Excellent academics or Belgium equivalent.
ACA, ACCA or CIMA equivalent qualifications with 3-5 years PQE or Belgium equivalent.
Solid understanding of US GAAP, IFRS and Tax related matters.
Strong insurance industry knowledge.
Stakeholder management – you can manage relationships with the senior management team, expose the problems, suggest solutions and incorporate their comments.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills dealing as well with junior team members than with the senior leadership team.
Excel skills required, along with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
