Arthur are partnered with a market leading MGA, who due to growth are looking to increase their Finance Operations function, with a finance-savvy problem solver with strong SQL (Azure) and reporting skills. The role’s broad scope provides high exposure to the business, visibility over Group processes and systems, and exposure to and collaboration with highly skilled professionals.
In this role, you’ll maintain and optimise financial reporting systems, troubleshoot queries, and ensure data accuracy for month-end, year-end, and ad hoc reporting. You’ll bridge the gap between Finance and IT, supporting system upgrades, data migrations, and infrastructure improvements. The ideal candidate combines accounting knowledge with technical expertise to deliver reliable, insightful financial data, while ensuring compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and troubleshoot financial reporting systems and queries
Optimise SQL queries and database performance to improve data extraction and reporting speed.
Support financial month-end and year-end processes by ensuring system accuracy and data integrity.
Understand and apply double-entry accounting principles to troubleshoot ledger discrepancies.
Investigate and resolve system-generated errors in reports, ensuring changes do not impact other processes or users.
Act as a key point of contact for finance teams requiring support with system usage, data queries, or reporting issues.
Document system processes, reporting logic, and technical specifications for internal knowledge sharing and audit readiness.
Assist with finance system upgrades, data migrations, and testing initiatives (Python, GIS)
Ensure compliance with internal controls, data governance, and audit requirements.
Experience Required:
3-4 years proven experience in a similar role combining finance and systems (e.g., Systems Accountant, Financial Systems Analyst, or similar).
PQ - Qual Accountant
Strong knowledge of database systems (preferably SQL Server) and database development work-flows.
Proficiency in writing and optimising SQL queries, stored procedures, and test scripts.
Experience documenting system processes, reporting logic, and technical specifications for internal knowledge sharing and audit readiness.
Strong written and spoken communication skills to enable communication at all levels.
Self-Motivated with Strong Ownership: Takes initiative and accountability for end-to-end data projects, driving progress with minimal supervision.
Collaborative Leadership: Supports and mentors’ junior analysts, contributes to team development, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
