Lead Data Engineer – Contract OutsideIR35 £700-£750, SQL, Python, Azure, London

An insurer with a global presence in London is seeking to hire a Lead Data Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. You will be working on the development of a data platform which allows the firm to leverage data across the organisation by obtaining data and sharing it across the business.
 
As a Lead Data Engineer, you will collaborate closely with the stakeholders to develop new capabilities and take a leading role in shaping the direction and foundation of the platform.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess a background in Data Engineering and have prior experience in delivering data solutions using technologies such as SQL, ADF, Spark, and Databricks. The role demands a hands-on approach, as well as the ability to review and design solutions, ensure adherence to best practices and provide assurance on the development approach.
 
The following skills are essential for success in this position:

• Prior experience in a Data Engineering or similar role
• Expertise in designing and implementing Azure features, particularly Analytics.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including experience with SQL Server and Azure SQL.
• Familiarity with Python and experience with Spark is a plus.
• Background in analyzing, cleaning, migrating, and modeling data.
