Linux Cloud Platform Engineer - £90,000 – remote (one day a month in the office (London) – Linux, DevOps, Azure, Terraform, AWS, Linux OS,
 
 
As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will take joint-ownership of our cloud platform and the DevOps tools that are used to support the efficient definition, delivery and operability of the cloud infrastructure and applications.
 
 
As an engineer, you will be a knowledgeable source of expertise on managing and deploying cloud infrastructure and resources based on automation through code. This includes, but is not limited to source code management, CI/CD, configuration management, software package management, monitoring and governance to embed security and compliance.
 
 
Key Responsibilities
 
 

  • Create, deliver, maintain and support the components of the core cloud and DevOps platform, ensuring they remain securely configured, access control models are enforced, appropriate metrics are captured, and technical standards are kept up to date.
  • Work with senior engineers and Cloud Solution Architects to provide direction and oversight of the cloud core platform.
  • Continually question and optimise the governance processes ensuring that deployed services meet quality and security benchmarks.
  • Offer direction and expertise to the DevOps community.
  • Drive decision making across different teams and disciplines, seeking informed decisions that lead to value-add, quality, appropriate outcomes.

 
 
Key Skills
 
 

  • Strong Linux System Administration experience including scripting and automating day to day SysAdmin and DevOps tasks
  • The core requirement is that they need someone who is top end in Linux and not just doing Sys Admin/Platform Engineering on Linux OS but good at scripting with Linux for automation
  • Want some exposure to the likes of Terraform or a similar Infrastructure as code toolset such as ARM – They’re using lots of Terraform so a good learning opportunity for candidates here
  • Drive the DevSecOps principles and culture across the wider IT team
  • open to someone who has either Azure, AWS or GCP but unlikely to take someone who hasn’t worked in any cloud environments
  • Act as an SME within the wider IT team, advising on strategy and defining the right approach for a range of projects.
  • Oversee the integration of Business lead DevOps teams.
  • Monitor market trends and best practices relating to DevOps, CI/CD and use of cloud services.
  • An understanding of the following tools - Azure CLI, PowerShell, ARM, Azure DevOps, , Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge of Bamboo and Bitbucket would be a bonus.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and demonstrable ability to stays current with the latest cloud technologies, trends, best-practise, and security that can benefit the Cloud and DevOps Platform.
