Underwriting Operations Manager

Arthur is working with a leading Lloyd’s Syndicate to recruit an Underwriting Operations Manager.
 
This pivotal role focuses on enhancing service delivery across all lines of business while supporting the syndicate’s ambitious international growth plans.
 
As a member of the wider operations management team, you will work closely with senior stakeholders and underwriters to drive process efficiency, leverage technology to scale operations, and promote a high-performing, inclusive team culture.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 

• Lead and develop a team of leaders, underwriting assistants, and bordereuax administrators.
• Deliver high-quality support to underwriting teams driving engagement and improvement.
• Hire, coach, and build a strong pipeline of future underwriting talent.
• Manage performance through clear goals, feedback, and development plans.
• Prioritise workloads to meet service standards and deadlines.
• Promote and enhance the use of underwriting systems across the team.
• Lead change through tech and AI, streamlining processes.
• Ensure compliance with all procedures, controls, and regulatory standards.

 
The successful candidate will have a strong background leading underwriting support teams, with a proven track record of delivering operational excellence. They will bring solid knowledge of delegated authority processes and extensive experience within the Lloyd’s and London Market across multiple insurance lines.
 
They will also be highly organised, analytical, and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
