Business Applications Manager A specialist insurance and reinsurance business are recruiting for a Business Applications Manager who will be responsible for the operational performance, support, governance, and continuous improvement of the organisation's business application portfolio, including underwriting, claims, finance, pricing, and exposure management systems. Key Responsibilities Own the operational management, availability, performance, and support of business-critical applications. Provide expert support for underwriting, claims, finance, pricing, and exposure management platforms. Partner with business stakeholders to deliver effective application solutions and improvements. Manage application vendors, contracts, licensing, upgrades, and service levels. Oversee user access, system governance, and compliance with security and audit requirements. Lead change, release, configuration, and testing activities. Monitor system health, performance, and reliability. Drive automation, process improvement, self-service capabilities, and knowledge management. Develop and mentor application analysts while promoting operational excellence. Provide broader IT support where required to maintain service continuity. Essential Experience & Skills 5+ years' experience managing or supporting business applications in a complex enterprise environment, ideally within insurance, reinsurance, or financial services. Experience supporting business-critical applications across underwriting, claims, finance, pricing, or exposure management. Strong understanding of application support, service management, and ITIL processes. Experience managing third-party vendors and software suppliers. Knowledge of databases, integrations, cloud platforms, and software development principles. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. SQL querying, advanced Excel, and Microsoft 365 proficiency. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Proven track record of service improvement and automation. Preferred Experience Experience within the Lloyd's or London Insurance Market. Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud-hosted applications. Experience supporting insurance platforms such as underwriting, claims, finance, pricing, or catastrophe modelling systems. ITIL certification. Line management experience. Degree educated.
