A leading Lloyd’s syndicate is hiring a Reserving Actuarial Analyst to join its actuarial reserving team. The role offers broad exposure across Lloyd’s lines of business, with strong involvement in reserving analysis, stakeholder interaction, and actuarial exam progression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform actuarial reserving analysis across Lloyd’s business
  • Support and enhance reserving models, assumptions and methodologies
  • Analyse data and interpret reserving outputs to inform business decisions
  • Communicate actuarial results to underwriting, claims and finance teams
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of reserving processes

Candidate Profile
  • Actuarial Analyst currently studying towards IFOA qualification
  • Experience or interest in general insurance / Lloyd’s reserving
  • Strong analytical, numerical and communication skills
  • Commercially aware with attention to detail

Working Pattern
  • Hybrid working (typically 3 days per week in the London office)

Key Responsibilities Act as the technical accounting SME for the group, providing guidance on complex accounting matters under  UK GAAP Ensure consistent application of group accounting policies across multiple legal entities Lead acquisition accounting for newly acquired businesses, including: Day 1 balance sheet reviews Purchase price allocations (PPA) Accounting for deferred and contingent consideration Policy alignment adjustments and consolidation entries Prepare and review statutory financial statements (UK and offshore entities where applicable) Produce and defend technical accounting papers for auditors and Audit Committee Support goodwill impairment reviews and share-based payment accounting Liaise with external auditors, valuation specialists, advisers and company secretarial teams Maintain a robust financial control environment during periods of change and integration Experience & Skills Required ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) Strong technical accounting background within  insurance, reinsurance or broking In-depth knowledge of  UK GAAP , particularly acquisition accounting Proven experience working through year-end reporting and audits Comfortable operating in complex, multi-entity group structures Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems Hands-on, detail-driven and able to deliver under tight deadlines Personal Attributes Highly organised with excellent attention to detail Proactive and solutions-focused Confident communicator with senior stakeholders Able to operate autonomously in fast-paced environments
