A London-based insurer is undertaking a significant merger project, bringing together multiple insurance entities as part of a wider group integration. 

They are looking for a hands-on Interim Financial Accountant to support the consolidation of financials and delivery of group reporting, working closely with senior finance leadership on a high-profile transformation.

This is a key role within the project, requiring someone who can get into the detail quickly and deliver with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Group Consolidation & Reporting
  • Consolidate multiple trial balances into a group financial model
  • Produce:
  • Consolidated trial balance
  • Primary financial statements aligned to the future structure
  • Perform and document:
  • Intercompany eliminations
  • Accounting policy adjustments
  • Support development of:
  • Group management accounts
  • Statutory-ready financial statements
  • Build and enhance Excel-based consolidation models

Technical Accounting & Advisory
  • Support technical accounting assessments relating to the merger
  • Document key accounting judgements and treatment decisions
  • Assist across broader reporting areas (e.g. regulatory, tax, statutory)
  • Contribute to integration planning and financial governance design

Operational / Hands-On Delivery
  • Work closely with finance teams to:
  • Resolve ledger and reconciliation issues
  • Ensure data integrity across entities
  • Support audit queries and evidence gathering
  • Assist with day-to-day financial reporting delivery where required

Experience & Skills
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in:
  • UK GAAP (FRS102 / FRS103)
  • Financial accounting / group reporting
  • Experience with:
  • Trial balance consolidation (preferred)
  • Multi-entity environments
  • Advanced Excel skills (including consolidation models)
  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g. financial services)
  • Exposure to finance transformation or integration projects beneficial
